Welcome to the Blacksmiths Arms

Set in an idyllic location opposite St. Mary's Church which is renowned for it's Saxon cript attracting thousands of visitors each year. The pub is in the National Park area dating back to the 17th century retaining many original features including exposed beams and an open fire place creating warm atmosphere to locals and visitors alike. Hils, Pete and the front of house team are passionate about real ale and real food and can offer advice on the products we serve including any special dietary needs.

Our chefs and kitchen team love food and pride themselves in producing quality home-made dishes using the finest ingredients supporting local farmers and producers. Our signature steak and ale and lamb and mint pies come highly recommended, using local lamb and beef combined with our home-made shortcrust pastry in 'proper Yorkshire portions'! We also offer an extensive lunch and evening menu and a 'Specials Board' which changes daily, and to round it off, choose one of our home-made desserts.

We can also provide food & refreshments outside of normal food service times for walkers, cyclists, concert goers, etc by prior arrangement. Please phone for further details.

The Blacksmith's Arms is surrounded by places to visit; Castle Howard, Flamingo Land, Rievaulx Abbey & Whitby to name a few, making your stay or visit to Lastingham a memorable one. We have three en-suite bedrooms which face St. Mary's Church, sample one of the best breakfasts in the area to complete your stay and make it a memorable experience. Discounts for two or more nights. What our fantastic customers say

“Great little pub that serves great quality homemade, Yorkshire food. The portions are huge and very reasonably priced. I had a 'slice' of steak and ale pie- it was crammed full of meat with a rich gravy, the best I've ever had.”

Spent a lovely afternoon here. Great food choices and specials available.. High standard of food really well presented and fresh-all pleasantly served by the staff. Really good sized portions as well. Tea nicely served in china cups along with home made biscuit/ Three choices of decent real ale. Welcoming open fire in bar enhanced the atmosphere on a very cold day.

Had a group booking here with some friends and everything was perfect. The food was fantastic and you get a decent sized portion. The Yorkshire Hotpot or Lamb and Mint pie is a MUST. The deserts are just as fantastic. The atmosphere was good, the staff were helpful and the price was very reasonable.
